Digipeater settings for VK6

The KPC 9612 TNC is being used to implement telemetry-capable, PARADIGM-compliant digipeaters in Western Australia.

Here's the configuration template being used to program them.

Note that using WAn-N in your path will produce the same results as WIDE used to do without tracing.

The new PARADIGM configuration means that WIDE now performs the same function as TRACE used to, and that the digi's no longer respond to TRACE at all.

Recommended paths are now:

Home stations VIA WIDE2-2

Mobile stations VIA WIDE1-1, WIDE2-2

Special Events VIA WIDE1-1,WAn-N

Home stations should digipeat the alias of WIDE1-1 this is the same as the old RELAY.

  1. I think I need to study the KPC a bit. I don't get how that config lets the TNC reply on WIDE1-1 and WIDE2-2 (or 2-1)

  2. Hi Gav
Its my understanding that UIDIGI is processed first, and simply digipeats non-aprs style. Hopefully my settings will trap insane paths and digi them once.
Then UIFLOOD handles the WAn-N paths without callsign substitution (io no TRACE)
Then UITRACE handles all the WIDE stuff using the XXXn-N algorithm and callsign substitution.
I am hoping these WIDE digipeaters do NOT respond to WIDE1-1 because this is the new RELAY and should be used only by fill-ins and home stations. Home stations should only digi on WIDE1-1 unless they are in a spot that needs a full WIDE digi.
I am hoping to be able to co ordinate WIDE digis for max coverage and min qrm.
    cheers

  3. G'day Pete.

WIDE1-1 is something all our digis need to respond to... we don't have near enough home stations acting as RELAY/WIDE1-1 digis in VK6 to have it any other way.

If digis like VK6RTH don't respond on WIDE1-1 then then posit packets will never get to the Igate when people use the recommended path like WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2 (or 2-1) and the Igate doesn't hear them direct.
